Every moment matters

Many of us are fascinated by the world of chemicals surrounding us. From the start of the day till the time we go back to sleep, chemistry plays a crucial role in our daily lives.

Now chemical engineering in simple terms can be defined as the branch of science that uses various principles of physics, biology, mathematics, etc. to study about the different chemical reactions and processes related to it, and to use the knowledge so gained to manufacture various products for a better living.

Chemical engineering attracts a lot of job opportunities. The demand for chemical engineers is rising every day. Some of the jobs for a chemical engineer are mentioned below.

  • Chemical Engineer: The most common job for a student with a chemical engineering degree is as a chemical engineer at various government as well as private sectors. A chemical engineer works in the research and development of a wide range of useful products from raw materials while maintaining hygiene.  A chemical engineer performs various research aimed at altering the physical, chemical as well as the biochemical state of a substance to convert it into something beneficial. Recently chemical engineers have also started researching in fields like nanotechnology, bioengineering, etc.
  • Nuclear Engineer: The work of a nuclear engineer includes researching in various nuclear processes and technology, maintaining safety protocol, designing and building nuclear power stations, etc. The atomic engineers analyze and eliminate any errors from the equipment used in the nuclear process, they work on core shielding, and they work in the safe disposal of radioactive wastes.
  • Energy Engineer: An energy engineer performs various research work involving energy and its related processes such as energy production and transfer. Energy engineers work in the production of multiple types of energies like extracting natural oil and gas, use of solar, wind and hydropower, as well as the use of biofuels. Finding alternate clean sources of energies to reduce the damage caused to the environment by burning fossil fuels, is also a main area of research for energy engineers.
  • Petroleum Engineers:  Another important field of study for chemical engineers, is the petroleum industry. The work of a petroleum engineer is to coordinate all the processes involved in the extraction of natural oils and gases. They work on extracting the hydrocarbons by drilling most efficiently. The various work area of petroleum engineers includes:
    • Petroleum Geologists
    • Drilling Engineers
    • Production Engineers
    • Reservoir Engineers

Few other jobs related to Chemical Engineering are:

  • Mining Engineer
  • Chemical Analyst
  • Materials Engineer
  • Manufacturing Engineer
  • Environmental Engineer
  • Product Development Scientist
  • Quality Control Engineer
