It is a common mistake that many of us do when we are asked about the difference between a web designer and a web developer. We consider that both are the same, but in reality, there are some differences between the two. It is important for you to know about the existing difference between the two.

Web designer:

Web designing is one of the most demanding jobs. Learning web designing is not a hectic process and a career in this field is definitely mind-blowing. A web designer will be responsible for making the website of the client or the company he/she works to look good. The designer will be responsible to stay focused towards developing the style and overall appearances of the web pages with the application of designing software, for example, Photoshop, Illustrator, sketch, to give a customized look. Many of the designers make use of codes like CSS – Cascading Style sheets and HTML for page designing. There are different categories or types of web designers like:

•    User Experience Designer: This designer will be responsible for keeping the visitors to site engaged by designing the site based on researches on user demographics and needs of the website.

•    User Interface Designer: UI designer will be responsible   to improvise the way in which users will interact with the web elements while visiting the site

•    Visual Designer:  Visual designer will be the one who will make mix and match of UI and UX.

To be precise we can say that web designers are by profile artistic and creative professionals

Web developer:

A small part of the job role of a web developer is of a web designer.  They are the one who builds the website and also plays a very important role in designing website apps. The web developers are of 2 types’ backend developer, frontend developer, and Full-stack developer. Source code tools like SVN, CVS, Git, and several other tools are also used by a web developer.

Before hiring a web designer a company will prefer to check his or her work portfolio and profile. On the other hand at the time of hiring a web developer, the employer will prefer to check your codes and here the Github Profile will help to showcase the code level. There will be a slight difference in the skill level of the designer and developer and you can understand it better when you speak to experienced professionals of the industry. The job of both the designer and developer is important for the correct presentation of the website for the users or visitors.
