Aim Above the Mark to Hit the Mark

Environmental Science has been one of the most exciting subjects. With the growing issues of environmental degradations, this has been in considerable demand in the current generation. People in this field technically apply their skills to control the conditions of the environment (soils, air, light, plants, sound, etc.) for a healthy outcome. They follow their principles and continuously work on how to improve public health, hygiene, the condition of water and air, recycling wastes, disposing of garbage, etc.

There are vast diversities in the working style of an environmental engineer. Environmental engineers work closely with nature and are hardly found in office setups like other engineers. But they are assigned in various projects. They start to develop their plans through constant analysis, experiments and also the outcome. The environmental engineers are likely to work more for the people than for themselves. For, e.g., suppose they made a plan to spray DDT or mosquito repellent spray in a society, they think about the positive as well the adverse effects they can cause to the people rather than just focusing on killing mosquitos.

There are numerous responsibilities of environmental engineers:

  1. Though planting is one of the significant steps towards a healthy environment, it needs to be done very systematically. Environmental engineers observe a proper place with a perfect sewage facility while planning for plantations.

  2. Environmental engineers see the condition of water quality in any particular area, and if required they submit a report to the Governing bodies for better interventions.

  3. The environmental engineers check the water pollution caused by the wastes disposed of in the rivers and lakes from industries or factories. They closely work with them to deal with this problem for the betterment of both the environment and the industry.

  4. For areas which suffer from lack of water, they provide plans and build effective measures to ensure drinking water dams and proper water supply methods.

  5. Waste disposal analysis is another main task of an environmental engineer. They check for an appropriate garbage disposal landfills or incinerators where the climate can get rid of toxic gases and air pollution.

  6. They constantly try on the experiments on how to use other methods of energy like nuclear, solar, tidal, etc. to make the environment free of pollution.
