Construction of tall buildings turned out to be a tradition for this highly developed world. Structures having a height of 500ft to 800ft are commonly found in almost every country around the world. Architects need to push their capabilities a little extra every time when they take up the responsibility to construct some outstanding skyscrapers, enhancing the beauty of the sky. These days we find it as one of the loved pastime activity of the renowned architects as well as governments of different countries to compete with each other to make a place in the top list of biggest buildings on Earth.  There are countless buildings across the globe which is popular in the pages of history. Here is the list of some of the biggest buildings on earth. The list includes those buildings which are used for either living or for office work only.

1. Burj Khalifa, Dubai:
It is the tallest building of the world and located in Dubai.  It is known as Burj Khalifa and is one of the must-watch spots of Dubai. The height of this building is 829.8 meters (2,722 ft) tall and has 163 floors, 57 elevators as well as 8 escalators. The construction of this building was opened in the year 2010. The stunning structure of the building gave Dubai particular popularity in the tourism industry. It was constructed to provide Dubai with international recognition. Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill are the people behind the construction of this fantastic building.

2. Taipei 10, Taiwan:  
It holds 5th position in the list of biggest buildings on Earth. It bagged the award for being the largest green building of the world by LEED. The height of this building is 509 meters and is famous for its highly attractive and unusual design.

3. Makkah Royal Clock Tower Hotel (Abraj Al Bait), Mecca: 
This clock tower is basically a hotel which is owned by the government and is specially designed to offer accommodation to Muslims who visit Mecca come for Hajj and is one of the expensive hotels of Mecca. The building displays a big clock located right at the top having a measurement of 141 x 141 ft dimensions. It is the biggest active clock in the world. The base is broad and that what makes it easy to stand so high. It is 601 meters tall.

4. One World Trade Centre, New York City:  
It is the tallest building of USA. The construction was completed in the year 2014  and is of 1,776 feet height. It is the functional building constructed after the commemoration of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. 

5. Shanghai Tower, Shanghai, China: 
It is the tallest building of China and second globally. The height is 632 meters (2,073 ft) and consists of 128 floors and displays a beautiful engineering construction. Construction started in 2008 and completed in 2013. The building became functional in June 2015.
