Be a Warrior and not a Worrier

The field of nanotechnology has advanced at a large pace in recent years. In this article, we will highlight some of the advantages and disadvantages of nanotechnology, but before that, let us learn the definition of nanotechnology.

Nanotechnology is the branch of science dealing with the understanding, and the manipulation of matter at the atomic and molecular scale. It includes the use of engineering, medical, robotics as well as computing, etc. for attaining such desired results.

Advantages of Nanotechnology:

  • Advanced Medical treatment:

One of the greatest advantages of nanotechnology is in the medical field. Nanobots are injected into the patient's body, and they are used to diagnose and remove blockages of all types. They are also used for drug refining for medical use.

  • Use in Electronics:

With the help of nanotechnology super compact chipsets have been successfully manufactured which are super-efficient. Quantum dots (minute light-producing cells) are being used in displays to make them more vibrant and precise.

  • Efficient Energy Devices:

Using nanotechnology super compact yet highly energy-efficient devices are being manufactured.

Disadvantages of Nanotechnology:

  • Easily weaponized:

Nanotechnology is used in the military sector for advanced weaponry. Smart missiles can be manufactured, which can hit a target with super-precision. It can be used to develop smart nuclear bombs, which in the wrong hands can be a weapon of mass destruction and can wipe humanity out of its face.

  • Environmental effects:

It might also happen that the end-products generated in nanotechnology production can cause some serious impact on the environment.

  • A knock on the privacy:

Using nanotechnology, smart recording devices and trackers can be used by hackers for extracting sensitive information or for spying on anyone.

Nanotechnology can be used both as a tool for human benefits or as a weapon of mass destruction. It is a good servant but a bad master.
