Smart farming is a concept of farming management utilizing modern technology to enhance the quantity as well as the quality of the agricultural products. The farmers of this 21st century have got access to GPS, easy scanning of soil, data management as well as IoT. By specifically measuring all variations in a farming field and adapting strategy according to that, farmers can enhance the efficiency of pesticides and fertilizers and use them wisely. In the same way, by utilizing the smart farming methods, farmers can better supervise the requirements of herd animals and accordingly prepare their nutrition so that they can easily prevent their diseases. The increasing demand for smart farming is to get high crop yield, the inclusion of ICT in farming and the growing requirements for climate-smart agriculture.

Because of all benefits smart farming is going to develop a big impact on the entire economy of agriculture by filling the gap between small and large scale industries. This is going on not only in developed countries but also in developing countries. Soon your local farmer will start spending equal time in managing their digital data as their dairy herds. The milking apron is going to be replaced by a milking app. The digital tools like GPS and sensors along with some automated machines like smart tractors, robots, and drones are in an attempt to enhance the farming profits and reducing the use of pesticides and fertilizers. Under the effect of smart farming, agricultural inputs like seed, feed, and machinery are well documented. The agricultural land is getting bigger and its cost is also increasing. Thus, digital agriculture will surely intensify these trends.

But these revolutionary changes in agricultural practices not only come with opportunities but also some challenges that may restrain the market growth. The skills, awareness, and knowledge about this digital agriculture are yet to broaden especially in the emerging countries.
