Documents required to file VAT return online

  1. TIN number: TIN is an 11-digit number provided by the Directorate of Commercial Taxes of the corresponding state. This number will help you track all payments made and filed returns before.

  2. Login details:  You will be given a User Id and a password by the state Directorate of Commercial Taxes of the state you’re in. If you are logging into the portal for the first time, you have to create a password yourself.

  3. VAT return filing software:  You need special software to file the vat return. This software will assist you in managing the XML file. Once you login to the Department of taxes, you can download this software. This can be uploaded to the portal of the Directorate of Commercial Taxes of your state.

  4. VAT receipts:  You need all the vat receipts showing every payment and challan number of each payment you had done last month.
