Atom is a modern-day text editor. It is used to customize to do anything. You can even use it productively without even opening a configuration file. It is known as the hackable text editor of modern time.

On the other hand, Sublime Text is more on the sophisticated side. This text editor is used for code, prose, and mark-up. It has got an excellent interface backed by extraordinary features. Not just that, but the tool is also known to deliver great performance.

One of the main features of the Atom is its ability to add extra features to edit. All the packages installed are hosted by GitHub. The packages are so fundamental that important features such as settings view and tree view comes pre-installed in the Atom packages.

On the other hand, Sublime packages are controlled plug-in. One of the main advantages of using Sublime is that it comes with many packages. Some of the most important ones include:

  • SublimeLinter
  • GitGutter
  • SideBarEnhancements

These are only a few of them. You will get more to choose from. It can be concluded that Sublime packages are good.

  1. Atom core is known to have 48 core contributors whereas Sublime has only 3 contributors.
  2. Atom plugins are created using HTML or CSS and JavaScript. This is what makes Atom a great text editor. On the other hand, Sublime is created using Python.
  3. An atom is an open-source tool. However, it is very nicely documented and contains visuals. As far as Sublime Text is concerned, it is a closed source and comes with decent documentation.
