How can agricultural engineers help reverse or mitigate climate change?

Agricultural engineers have been working for many years for regenerating the processes of agriculture. They have analyzed and used their skills to produce more organic crops, increasing the water-holding capacity of the soil, fertilize the drought-prone fields, reduction of the usage of toxic pesticides and agrochemicals, etc. for the well being of the people. Besides these activities, agricultural engineers have also helped to reverse or mitigate a change in the climatic condition. Here are the situations where it has found relevant:

 i. Agricultural engineers regularly work on various schemes which can help in the reduction of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by producing more and more solar energy. By this, they are trying to reduce global warming issues. 

ii. For the proper conservation of oxygen, they are proposing and planning to plant a maximum number of trees and plants, especially those trees which can absorb chemical gases. Even the most harmful agricultural wastes which can pollute the air are being tried to turn into charcoal so that they can be quickly buried. 

iii. For reducing the greenhouse gas effects, agricultural engineers have planned for certain schemes which can release the amount of trapped solar energy from the earth’s surface and absorb the sulfur particles from the atmosphere which are harmful. Even space mirrors are also being planned to place around the earth’s orbit which can reduce and reflect the harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun. This whole process is known as radiative forcing. 

iv. Plans are being implemented by the agricultural engineers to develop sulfur sunshades which can reduce the rate of radiative forcing, and the temperature level can lower by at least 5-degree Celcius. Through these processes, they can also implement plans to preserve the carbon dioxide under the soil which can be easily used by the plants but can affect less to the atmosphere. 

v. Methane which is again a poisonous gas for the atmosphere is also another factor looked upon by the agriculture engineers. They are trying to reduce methane emissions through the cheapest means of solution. 

vi. Waste products are broken and fragmented so that these can be reused and renewed into other products or substances. These reduce the chances of producing toxic polluting air into the atmosphere. 

vii. The agricultural system has changed a lot when the agricultural engineers have put a lot of effort to develop the quality and techniques of farming. They are using on the view to use the least amount of pesticides and agrochemicals which are reducing the mixture of such toxic gases in the air. Even the soil is also getting protected from the harmful effects which are further supporting the ecosystem.
