With the onset of the 21st century, the science and technology field witnessed some of the greatest advancements that modernized our entire way of living. One such advancement is the development and implementation of nanotechnology in our daily living. In this module, we’ll be highlighting the future scope of nanotechnology. But before that, let’s define nanotechnology.

Nanotechnology is a sphere of science and technology, which focuses on the understanding, and the manipulation of matter at the atomic and molecular scale. It considers the use of engineering, medical, robotics as well as computing, etc. for attaining desired results.

Future Scope of Nanotechnology    

  • Revolution of Medical Treatment
    One of the most beneficial implementations of nanotechnology will be in the medical field. Nanobots will be injected inside our body, and they’ll act as micro doctors, diagnosing our body 24x7 for potential damage and infection, and taking necessary steps for healing the body. People will self heal, and this will undoubtedly revolutionize the entire medical field. Companies like GlaxoSmithKline are already working on projects like “electroceuticals”.

  • Self-Healing structures
    It often happens that a small hairline fracture on roads, electrical circuits, can pave the way for bigger holes and damages, or even the tiniest of a crack in sensitive areas like cockpits of airplanes, submarines, ships, etc. can often cause fatality. Nanotechnology saves the day. Upon spraying nanomaterials on such sensitive areas, will enhance their properties like increased water-repelling capacity, filling of cracks, increased tensile strength, etc. 

  • Nanotechnology for Big Data
    With the help of nanotechnology, handling tonnes of information is now a piece of cake. Collecting, analyzing and processing of huge heaps of data could be finished in the blink of an eye, and storing such massive data will also be easy-peasy because of the unparallel computing power of nanotechnology implemented ultra-dense memory systems.
