In the world of construction and development, both civil and architectural engineering deals with the creation and designing of various construction projects. This is the reason for which people often get confused, how both are different from each other. Whenever it is a project for a construction building, one needs to have a degree of either architectural engineering or civil engineering as both the degrees deal with creation, skills of designing, analyzing, planning and constructing.  Now, the question is, where do these two differ from each other?

i. Civil Engineering is involved with the planning and development of structures to its extreme normal limit which is regarded as a necessity. Architectural engineering is something more than that. Here, the engineers are more concerned about the standard structural setup and pay attention to more factors like designs, aesthetics, look, artistry, feel and themes.

ii. Civil Engineers are more concerned with the quality of the building materials, budget, safety, space, modifications, and measurements. Architectural engineers are also concerned about the same, but above that, they are concerned with many other related factors like color, shape, designs, advancement of themes, etc. The works of architectural engineers need more time, patience and a sense of art than civil engineers. They can convert fantasy into reality.

iii. The expertise of Civil Engineers is required in various practical necessities of day-to-day life like the construction of apartments, roads, dams, flyovers, bridges, water tanks,  etc. where various sub-disciplines like material science, environmental engineering, structural engineering, etc. are related. They can handle some projects at a time. Architectural Engineers, on the other hand, focus mainly on only one construction of a project at one time to make it look and feel special. They need to analyze and think a lot towards the lights, beams, floors, angles, colors, etc. to design construction in an extraordinary look.

iv. When it comes to the management role, it is the Civil engineer who supervises the architectural engineer in a project as he/she is the one who not only looks after the building construction but also the other sides like safety, legal issues, quality of the materials, planning, technology, etc. Architectural engineers do not require to take such responsibilities.

To conclude, both the skills of a civil engineer and an architectural engineer is required to construct a successful design.
