What Are The Health Benefits Of Coffee? 24 November, 2020

No matter if you are drinking coffee on the go or sipping on it in the morning, it is quite hard to imagine a day without coffee. There are quite a few people that don’t even like the taste of coffee, they drink it because it makes them feel amazing. The caffeine will perk you up and there is just something about how a cup of coffee will make you feel. But the age-old question comes into play. Is coffee good for you? There have been a lot of studies that have proven that coffee comes with quite a few health benefits. Popular to contrary beliefs it is not bad for you if you drink it with moderation. Coffee is filled with so many substances that help your bodyguard itself from serious diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's disease, heart disease, and many other ones.

Coffee Can Help You Burn Fat

If you have even seen dietary products you will be able to see that caffeine is found in almost every one of them and that is for a good reason. Even though it doesn't make you lose weight it helps your body burn fat. There have been multiple studies that have shown that coffee will boost your metabolic rate up to 11 percent. Others have discovered that caffeine can increase fat burning up to 10 percent in obese people and 30 percent of average people. Coffee is of great help when you are trying to lose weight.

It Can Improve Your Energy Levels

The thing that almost everyone experiences, when they drink coffee and mainly why they choose to drink it, is because it gives them a boost of energy. That happens because coffee contains caffeine which is a stimulant. It is another reason why coffee is one of the most consumed psychoactive substances in the world. Once you drink your coffee, your bloodstream will absorb the caffeine. After it gets into your bloodstream it will go to your brain. While it's in the brain, it will block your inhibitory neurotransmitter adenosine. And once that happens the amount of dopamine and other neurotransmitters will increase. There are so many studies that have proven that you gain so much by drinking coffee like improving your memory and many other things. But just like with anything in life, coffee has to be drunk in moderation to get the most benefits out of it.

Coffee Contains Some Essential Nutrients

There are so many nutrients that are found in a coffee bean that make their way into your cup once the coffee is brewed. One cup of coffee will have:

  • Manganese and potassium

  • Riboflavin also is known as vitamin B2

  • Magnesium and niacin also are known as vitamin B3

  • Pantothenic acid also is known as vitamin B5

Even though this might not seem like a lot they are still some vitamins that you should have on a family basis. And let's face it who likes taking pills, it is much easier and pleasurable to drink a cup of coffee.

Drinking Coffee Might Protect You From Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia

As we are all familiar with, Alzheimer’s disease is unfortunately one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases. This condition usually affects people who are over 65 and there is no cure for it. But, there are some things that can be done in order to prevent it from developing in the first place. One of those things is working out but also drinking coffee. There have been quite a few studies that have shown that people who drink coffee on a daily basis have a 65 percent less risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease than ones who don't drink it.

Coffee May Help You Live Longer

If you have caught on to this, those who drink coffee have less chance of developing some pretty serious disease. Therefore it is less likely for them to die from it, so they will theoretically live longer. There have been several studies that have indicated that by drinking coffee you are lowering the risk of death. Two of the larger studies have shown that men who drink coffee are reducing their death by 20 percent while women have 26 percent lower chances.

Coffee Can Make You Smarter

But what people don't know, and rarely believe it when they hear it, is that coffee can actually make you smarter. As we have mentioned before, coffee contains caffeine which is a great stimulant. Many studies have discovered that caffeine can help improve your memory, vigilance, cognitive function as well as reaction time. Therefore you will be more concentrated on your work as well as be able to do it faster and more precisely. And it is another reason why a lot of companies opt to have their own workplace coffee machines, to help their employees stay on top of their work.

Drinking Coffee May Lower Risk of Certain Types of Cancer

Unfortunately, nowadays one of the world leading causes of death is cancer. Cancer is characterized by uncontrolled cell growth in your body. But there have been signs that have led people to believe that coffee can protect humans from developing two types of cancer. Studies have shown that those who drink coffee have up to 40 percent of lowering the risk of liver cancer. Another similar study has proven that those who drank four to five cups of coffee per day had up to 15 percent of developing colorectal cancer.

Coffee May Lower Stroke Risk

It has always been claimed that caffeine will increase your blood pressure and it can cause stalkers and you shouldn't drink it. That is somewhat true, but there it rises only 3–4 mm/Hg therefore the effect is so small that if you are used to it, it is nothing for your body. But if you are someone who struggles with elevated blood pressure you can feel it just the tiniest bit. There have been a lot of studies that said that they don't support the opinion that it raises the risk of heart disease and strokes. They have also proven that women who drink coffee are reducing the risk of strokes. Another study has proven that people who drink coffee are lowering their risk of strokes by 20 percent.

It May Lower Your Risk of Parkinson’s

The second most common neurodegenerative condition that is right below Alzheimer’s is called Parkinson’s disease. It is caused because your dopamine-generating neurons in your brain are dying. Just like with Alzheimer’s there is still no cure for it but you can take some precautions to try and lower your chances of developing it. There have been multiple studies that have shown that those who drink free on a daily basis are lowering the risks of developing up to 60 percent. But they have also discovered that people who drink decaf coffee aren't lowering the risks of developing Parkinson’s disease.

Coffee May Protect Your Liver

Not a lot of people think about how important their liver is. Your liver is an organ that is responsible for hundreds of important functions. The most common diseases that affect the liver are fatty liver disease, hepatitis, and many other serious conditions. Many of those conditions can lead to liver cirrhosis. That means that most of your liver has been replaced by scar tissue. What is interesting about those studies is that they have shown that drinking coffee can prevent cirrhosis from happening. If you drink four or more cups of coffee on a daily basis you are lowering the risk of it by an amazing 80 percent.

Drinking Coffee Can Fight Depression and Make You Happier

As most of you know, depression is a mental disorder that reduces the quality of your life. It is a very common mental disorder as 4.1% of people in the US are diagnosed with clinical depression. Because it is such a common mental disorder there have been a lot of studies that have shown that coffee can help with it. They have proven that if you drink four or more cups of coffee per day can lower the chance of becoming depressed by 20 percent. Another study has shown that those who drank four or more cups of coffee a day were up to 50 percent less likely to commit suicide than those who didn't. That is mainly because caffeine blocks out the inhibitory neurotransmitters in the brain which as we have mentioned before give a stimulant effect.

Straight Black Coffee Can Help Prevent Tooth Cavities

If you can tell by now, coffee is a superhero. If you are someone who drinks their coffee straight black, without any sweetener or milk, it can help your teeth. That is because they help destroy something called streptococcus mutans. Those are bacteria that are responsible for your cavities. There have been multiple studies that have proven that if you drink at least one cup of straight black coffee you are lowering the chances of getting cavities by 40 percent.

Coffee Can Boost Your Libido

There are a lot of people who think that coffee has a negative effect on your libido and that is just a myth. There have been different studies that showed that caffeine will actually increase your libido rather than lowering it. That is as we have said multiple times before, coffee is a simulation. If you are someone who is healthy you can fully indulge yourself in this magical beverage without any worries, but if you are someone who struggles with things like the adrenal gland you should consult your doctor first.

Coffee Is A Great Natural Source Of Your Daily Vitamins

As we have said before, coffee contains some very important daily vitamins. As many people don't like taking pills or simply can't get into a rabbit or drinking them every morning, coffee is there for them. Coffee is packed with amazing liquid nutrients. Vitamin B2 is essential for relieving chronic pains like migraines. That is why your head usually hits until you drink your daily dose of coffee.  Another very beneficial thing that coffee contains is potassium. It is so great because it helps reduce the bloated feeling also known as water retention. It can also help prevent kidney stones from forming. After all of those amazing vitamins there comes magnesium. Magnesium is a great source of vitamins that can help battle depression symptoms and lower your blood pressure. These are just some of the most beneficial vitamins you are putting on your body with a morning cup of coffee.

Coffee Can Help You Out With Acne

Every single human has struggled or experiences acne in their life. But what they don't know is that coffee can actually help you out with that. That is because coffee is filled with antioxidants and it helps lessen the bacteria and redness in your skin. It is also because it is filled with anti-inflammatory compounds, just like chocolate, that will help stop cancer and other types of skin conditions. So if you are someone struggling with acne, coffee is nothing you need to get rid of. Just make sure there is no sugar or fatty creamers in it and it will work wonders.

As you can see, there are so many different amazing benefits that come from drinking coffee. If you are someone who enjoys drinking coffee, there is no point in restricting yourself to having only one cup a day. Unless you go overboard and drink more than seven cups you are good to go. But it is important that you understand that these studies that have been performed are epidemiological in nature. They can only show that there is an association between the two, they aren't saying that drinking coffee will cure you nor prevent diseases from forming.

To ensure that you are getting all the benefits of coffee, try to stay away from sweeteners and other stuff that will clash with the benefits of it. As you see now, coffee is not the villain that everyone made it seem to be.
