Is It Too Late to Improve My Dental Health? 25 August, 2020

Some people go through life with few dental issues. Others seem to have problems on a regular basis. No matter who you are or how old you happen to be, there are solutions that can be used when and as necessary. Here are a few examples that any adult can use to improve the condition of their teeth and enjoy improved dental health.

Having Your Teeth Straightened

Your teeth are more or less straight, but a little correction would improve the look a bit. Unfortunately, wearing braces when you were younger was out of the question. What you may not realize is that it’s not too late to do something about those crooked teeth.

One suggestion that your dentist is likely to recommend involves wearing a progressive set of invisible aligners. Investing in Barrie Smile Centre Invisalign aligners is easily one of the most discreet and effective solutions. The aligners help to move the teeth into the right position a little at a time. Thanks to the fact that they’re clear, the aligners are much less noticeable than metal braces. They can also be removed while you eat and when you want to brush your teeth. In most cases, you will only need to wear the aligners for two years or less.

Dealing With Cavities

Cavities are among the most common dental problems today. Fortunately, they can also be remedied with relative ease. Assuming the decay is not severe enough to merit a root canal, the dentist can remove the rotted portion and fill in the vacant space. Along with the filling, a crown may be used to restore the look of the tooth. You can expect the crown and the filling to hold up for a number of years before any replacements are needed.

Repairing Broken or Chipped Teeth

Accidents happen and some of them can leave you with chipped or broken teeth. Fortunately, it’s possible to use a combination of crowns and veneers to repair this type of damage. It’s possible to tint both of them so that they match the hue of the surrounding teeth. Like fillings, this solution will last for a number of years before you have to have the old ones removed and get new ones. In the meantime, your teeth will look great.

Replacing All or Some of Your Teeth

In some cases, saving a damaged tooth is not possible or practical. That’s when you want to talk with the dentist about options for dental implants. Unlike some other dental solutions, this one happens to last for decades.

You have two options for dental implants. One is individual implants that are inserted into the sockets where your real teeth once resided. The implants are covered with a cap shaped to resemble the tooth. This approach is effective, but it may take several weeks or months to replace all of the damaged teeth.

Another option is to go with what’s often called four-in-one implants. This involves inserting four implants into the upper or lower jaw, then attaching a plate designed to resemble a row of teeth. This solution for same day implants comes with a temporary plate that you can wear while your custom plate is designed. This allows you to walk into a dental office with no teeth and emerge with a full set.

There are other treatments that will help improve the appearance of your teeth and your dental health in general. Talk with a dentist today and see what can be done. The solution may be a lot simpler than you think.

Just like human body gets feeble and weak as you age, teeth also get damaged over time. But the teeth can be damaged in young people because of their declining health issues. The good news is whatever your teeth problem is, dentists can assist you for any treatment that can make them look better despite the crookedness in them. It is a new technique but due to its effectiveness, it has become quite popular all over the world. Not only dentists are capable of fixing teeth, they also have plastic surgeons and ENT specialists that use smart techniques to fix your jawline along with teeth. These days, we have dental treatments that are best in quality, modern and state-of-the-art and convenient for patients of all ages. Let’s have a look at some of the cosmetic dental ways that are not harmful to your teeth.

Cleaning

Cleaning of teeth is very important. It is also known as dental prophylaxis. In this process, the dentist tries to take off the plaque and tartar (calculus) built on the teeth. Specific equipment and chemicals are used for this purpose to carefully remove this plaque and debris to ensure that it wouldn’t hurt patients. First, the dentist uses an ultrasonic device that produces vibrations and is cooled by water which eases the layers of tartar in larger portions. Then handy tools are used to physically remove the tartar, debris, and stains on teeth. Once the teeth are cleaned out, the chemical is removed, and then the dentist polishes the teeth. A lot of people do that to have a beautiful smile.

Teeth Whitening

People lost the illuminating effect of their teeth as time passes. It is a natural process that our teeth grow and get strong. As we age, we eat different foods and they can help with nutrients or can have a bad impact on our teeth. Especially, the consumption of tobacco, coffee, soft drinks, alcohol, and cold drinks is really harmful to our teeth and their usage can lead to yellow teeth. But now there are different techniques of teeth whitening and you can get one of those teeth whitening treatment for yourself.

Teeth whitening can give you a whole new and better look in no time. A safety gel or a rubber shield is used to safeguard the other parts of mouth and gums while a bleaching chemical is used to whiten the teeth. The dentists also use a kind of laser or ultraviolet light beam to bleach all the plaque and debris from the teeth. This white light enhances the efficiency of the whitening agent. It is a very quick and easy method to get the sparkly white teeth.

This method of teeth whitening can also be tried at home but be sure to safeguard your other mouth parts by using a rubber shield or something like that. While if you hire our dental services, then you should follow the doctor’s order to use the mouth guard as prescribed which is only a few hours per day and a few hours at night.

Veneers

Veneers are basically an artificial teeth layer. It is installed on the front teeth that shows just like your natural teeth. They are not the whole fake teeth, but a porcelain layer is used to replicate the actual teeth.

If a person wanted treatment of veneer, then he or she must know that the dentist will take away a thin layer of tooth enamel which will be replaced by the adhesive coating of porcelain.

Veneers is basically a natural-searching cosmetic treatment that can give you an overnight smile makeover in just one day. People with a correct gap between their teeth, uneven length, discoloration, restored teeth, crooked teeth can avail the services of veneers without any issue. It starts from the tooth surface and goes to the biting edge of the tooth. It also covers both sides of a tooth. Many people have different shapes and sizes if teeth and these veneers are always custom made. The process includes removing a thin layer of enamel and the teeth are contoured with veneers. The veneers are attached with a strong material so that it becomes a part of existing teeth and doesn’t look odd. A special light beam is used to align it perfectly.

There are a few kinds of veneers that are used by people and offered by our Family First dental facility.

Have a look:

  1. Porcelain Veneers: Porcelain veneers are one of the most common and longest-lasting veneers. These are famous and widely used because of aesthetically pleasing kind of veneer. They're produced inside a lab where experts made it according to the color, size, dimension, and aesthetics of their patients by using multiple layers of porcelain.

  2. Composite Veneers: These are made by using composite resin and can be made within the dentist office. They can be slightly different than your natural teeth, but it is low price extensive cosmetic enhancements.

  3. Instant Veneers: Some dental services use prefabricated resin veneers, but they aren't customized, and we don’t use that in our facility.

Cosmetic Bonding

Cosmetic bonding is the dental procedure. In this procedure the dentist revives or stuff the crooked teeth by using a tooth-colored material. The purpose of this treatment is to enhance the teeth appearance.  A composite material is used for this purpose. It is a natural way to enhance the look and it allows better function too. It is a quick solution and isn’t much expensive either. People with cracked or stained teeth can be great candidates for this treatment. It enables the tooth’s structure to become preserved, but it is not durable.

Microabrasion

This procedure is kind of intense as the dentist eliminate teeth stains by removing a very thin layer from the tooth’s enamel. This is risky and can only be done on teeth that are healthy.

Dermal Fillers

The dermal fillers are mostly associated with cosmetic surgeries, but they can be utilized along with other dental treatments to slow the aging process. Usually, ladies try to get lip fillers to enhance their appearance. They use injections for this process.
