Top 8 Healthy Good Food Recipes

Most of my fights with mom arise due to my never ending crave for my unhealthy junk food habits and I’m quite sure most of you will be facing the same.

Well, can any foodie avoid delicious savories and snacks afraid of their unclean ingredients? No. we all wish to be healthy, but avoiding our loving food is never an option though. So, below I’m presenting you the top delicious but healthy good food recipes.

Do try them out (or make others try :P), I’m sure you’ll drool over this once you get to taste!

1. Oatmeal Cookies  

Oatmeal cookies are the best choice to munch than other cookies, and it has great taste too. It has more fiber than other cookies and is better for your blood sugar which makes it a  good food recipe.

Preparation time: 50 minutes
Serves: 8

Ingredients:
Rolled oats- 75 gm
Honey- 50 gm
Butter- 125 gm
Castor sugar- 100 gm
Flour- 100 gm
Desiccated coconut- 50 gm
Bicarbonate of soda- 2 teaspoons

How to Make:
1. Melt the butter with sugar and honey in a saucepan.
2. Bicarbonate of soda, coconut, oats, and flour are added and mixed well.
3. Make small balls by hands from the dough. These balls are placed on a baking sheet which is greased lightly.
4. Make sure there is enough space to spread while the biscuits are baked.
5. Bake at preheated 170 C / 325 F in the oven, till it gets a golden color which will take up to 10 minutes.
6. Cool a little before taking them off from the baking tray.


2. Green Cucumber Shots

Green cucumber shots come with a good taste with its health benefits and interesting blend of taste.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Serves: 1

Ingredients:
Chopped cucumbers-500 gm
A lemon- big
Chopped Romaine lettuce- 200 gm
Smashed garlic cloves- 10 gm
Parsley- 50 gm
Chopped Basil- 50 gm
Cilantro- 50 gm
Salt to taste

How to Make:
1. Make a smooth puree by blending water, cucumbers, and garlic.
2. Basil, parsley and romaine lettuce are added to the puree.
3. Season with lemon juice and salt as desired.
4. Serve the shots with slivers of toasted bread.


3. Mixed Beans Salad

Mixed bean salad contains the whole goodness of fiber-filled tasty beans which makes it a healthy and good food recipe.

Preparation time: 25 minutes
Serves: 6

Ingredients:
For the salad,
Drained and rinsed mixed bean salad (or you can get it readymade in tins from the supermarket)- 400 gm
Finely chopped spring onions- 2
Thinly sliced celery sticks- 2
A large tomato- finely deseeded and diced
Salt and pepper
For the dressing,
Olive oil- 3 tablespoons
White wine vinegar- 1 tablespoon
Sugar- 1 teaspoon
Dijon mustard- 2 teaspoons
Chopped fresh tarragon- 1 tablespoon
Chopped fresh parsley- 1 tablespoon

How to Make:
1. Mix the ingredients of salad to a bowl.
2. Take the ingredients of the dressing and mix it in another bowl.
3. Top off the salad with dressing, then toss together with salt and pepper. Delicious mixed bean salad is all ready to serve now.


4. Spinach and Feta Crepes

With the spinach, feta cheese and onion stuffed in these French crepes make it nothing less than delicious.

Preparation time: 20 minutes
Serves: 2

Ingredients:
Olive oil- 2 teaspoons
Minced red onion- ¼ cup
Fresh spinach leaves- 3 cups
One teaspoon of fresh lemon juice
Fresh black pepper and Kosher salt
Feta cheese(crumbled)- 2 ounces
Cooked basic crepes- 4
Unsalted butter- 1 teaspoon
Fresh herbs(minced) like tarragon and parsley

How to Make:
1. Pour olive oil and heat it in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
2. Add onion to the pan and stir until it gets softened for about 4 minutes. Then add a handful of spinach one by one and cook until it gets wilted.
3. Salt, pepper, lemon juice seasoning can be added and then transfer it to a bowl and fold it into feta cheese.
4. Spread a quarter of spinach and feta mixture on the crepe lied on the board in a half portion and then fold the other half to form a quarter circle folding both halves. Repeat the same for the remaining crepes.
5. Lower the heat and melt butter into it. Add the crepes into it, swirl and cook until it becomes crisp and brown. Repeat the same by flipping to the other side.
6. Transfer it into a serving dish with minced herbs garnished.


5. Hasselback Sweet Potatoes

Hasselback sweet potatoes is a wonderful gourmet that melt in your mouth but at the same time very healthy, it’s of no doubt that the dish is a good food recipe due to its antioxidants and fibers.

Preparation time: 1 hour 10 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:
Sweet potatoes(medium)- 4
Melted unsalted butter- 1 tablespoon
Fresh thyme leaves(finely chopped)- 1 teaspoon
Olive oil- 1 teaspoon
Garlic clove(finely grated)- 1
Salt and pepper
Greek-style yogurt(non-fat)- 1/3 cup
Scallion(white and green parts chopped)- 1

How to Make:
1. Line an aluminum foil with baking sheet to the preheated oven of 425 degrees F.
2. Slice each potato thin and even.
3. Stir and mix garlic, thyme, oil, and butter with 1/4 teaspoons of both salt and pepper all in a small bowl.
4. This mixture is then rubbed to all of the potato slices.
5. Potato slices are placed on the baking sheet. It will take up to 1 hour to roast the potatoes which the texture be, the center of the potato tender and crisp outside.
6. The potatoes are removed from the oven through the roasting time, and a fork is run across gently on the top of the potatoes to separate them.
7. For the sauce to serve with potatoes, stir yogurt with salt and pepper along with scallions.


6. Scotch Quail Eggs

Scotch eggs for sure is a classic snack which is a tasty good food recipe.

Preparation time: 25 minutes
Serves: 12

Ingredients:
Quail eggs- 12
Fresh thyme- 2 sprigs
A large free range egg
Breadcrumbs- 100 gm
Vegetable oil- to fry
Sausages- 3

How to Make:
1. Keep the oven in preheat mode 180 degrees C.
2. Boil the eggs for two minutes, then peel it carefully after plunging it into cold water.
3. The skin of the sausage is removed, and the sausage is squeezed into the bowl.
4. Take the thyme. Take a shallow bowl for the hen’s egg to be beaten, place another for breadcrumbs.
5. Sausage mixture can be separated into 12 portions in which the eggs will be shaped round carefully.
6. Each round is rolled in beaten egg then breadcrumbs upon it.
7. Fry the scotch eggs after heating the oil in a deep pan at 180 degrees C until it gets a golden color.
8. Remove from oven carefully and drain, bake them for 5 minutes from oven, quail scotch eggs are ready to serve.


7. Bread Chana Basket

Bread chana basket is a tasty anytime appetizer that anyone will love, more popular as a good food recipe.

Preparation time: 35 minutes
Serves: 6

Ingredients:
For bread chana basket,
Bread slices- 6
Butter
For chana chaat,
Boiled chana- 1 cup
Onion(finely chopped)- 1 medium
Chilli powder- 2 teaspoons
Tomatoes(finely chopped)- 1 medium
Cumin seeds- 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder- ½ teaspoon
Oil- 2 teaspoon
Ginger garlic paste- 1 teaspoon
Chana masala- 1 tablespoon
Salt to taste

How to Make:
1. Cut and trim the bread slices at edges circularly with a cookie cutter.
2. Press the bread into muffin pans gently after applying both sides of bread with butter.
3. Keep the oven in preheat mode 190 degrees C.
4. Bake the bread till it turns golden brown color which will take up to 11 minutes. Let it cool.
5. Add cumin seeds to the hot oil pan followed by chopped onions to sauté it for two minutes. Ginger garlic paste is then added to it.
6. Chopped tomatoes are then added to fry till it’s nicely cooked. Now mix Chana masala powder, chili powder, and turmeric powder to it.
7. Add boiled chana and ¼ cup of water to it to boil it for ten minutes.
8. Switch off the flame after it becomes dry and chana is filled in the prepared bread baskets. Coriander leaves can be used for garnishing and serve hot.


8. Pineapple BBQ Chicken Packet

Pineapple BBQ Chicken Foil Packet is so easy to cook but is packed with perfect taste combination of pineapple and veggies with cooked chicken breasts.

Preparation time:  30 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

Chicken breasts(boneless and skinless)- 4
Pineapple chunks- 2 cups
Red bell pepper(diced)- 1
Green bell pepper(diced)- 1
Coarse salt and pepper to taste
For the sauce,
Barbeque sauce- ½ cup
Dried garlic- 2 teaspoons
Smoked paprika- 1 ½ teaspoon
Olive oil- 2 tablespoons
Jalapeno(sliced)- 1
Fresh lemon juice- 2 tablespoons
Dried oregano- 1 teaspoon

How to Make:
1. Keep the oven in preheat mode 180 degrees C.
2. Lay foil squares of four on the table to place chunks of pineapple and peppers in the center of the foil.
3. Pour salt and pepper generously on the chicken breasts.
4. Mix barbeque sauce, cilantro, oregano, lemon juice, minced garlic, paprika and olive oil in a bowl. Sprinkle with cilantro over chicken pack.
5. The chicken and vegetable foil pack is closed and transferred to the baking sheet to bake for 25 minutes.
6. After the chicken is done, the sauce is drizzled and broiled for 2 minutes.
7. Garnish with cilantro and serve the dish immediately.
